Juno portrays mythic hybrid creatures – part human, part bird – similar to the inter-species characters in my earlier Chimera series. Juno is a guardian and stands bravely in an oval wreath of branches: a human woman with the head of a peacock, which is her symbolic bird.
This oval form derives from shadows cast by a three dimensional coronet, which I created by attaching fragments of my printed images to a wire base. Theatrical lighting, shone through the top of the coronet, created ambiguous silhouettes that I drew over and then enhanced with additional printed collage elements.

Merge Intaglio and relief Edition of 40 Image size: 49 x 43 cm Paper size: 70 x 56 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 The abandoned object has lost its function to instruct the driver. I collect broken signs from country roads and present them as works on paper, using traditional printmaking methods. My interventions reveal weathered, scarred and reflective souvenirs. Merge becomes an off-site marker that re-presents a landscape and a site.

Archival inkjet print on cotton rag paper Edition of 40 Image size: 38.5 x 27 cm Paper size: 48.5 x 33 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 This work continues an investigation into the metaphoric comparisons between the built environment and the structure and function of the human body. Paradoxes and parallels inherent within the organic and built forms are analysed. Architectural imagery has been reinterpreted to symbolically represent the transformation of spinal composition when affected by the bone disease osteoporosis.

Etching and screenprint Edition of 40 Image size: 45 x 38 cm Paper size: 45 x 38 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 Extensive transparent areas are emphasised in the print Building Type AB to reinforce the relationship between the drawings of the buildings in the work. Reflections, shadows and the continuous changing viewpoints determine the transparency when light hits the surface, which emphasises the spatiality.

Etching, aquatint, linocut and stencil Edition of 30 Image size: 55 x 60 cm Paper size: 62 x 56 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 This print references the striated markings of the small native pardalote bird and extends those into a fabric net that in turn captures the bird. The creature is immersed in these marks but is also a victim of the cultural artefact of the fabric.

Screenprint Edition of 44 Image size: 44 x 44 cm Paper size: 58 x 56 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 I started this print (Caterpillar Morning) during a trip I made to Toowoomba. As I was working on the initial drawing, hairy caterpillars where falling from the branches of a large fig tree above. I was fortunate enough to escape contact, my friend was not so lucky… those itchy little buggers!

Screenprint and collage Edition of 30 Image size: 46.5 x 36.5 Paper size: 67 x 54 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 This work was inspired by a new area of interest. I have begun to reduce the characteristics of my black and white drawings resulting in only the abstract essentials of the image. Any detail is added by the minimal use of topographical maps.

Linocut Edition of 34 Image size: 50 x 50 cm Paper size: 75 x 57 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 My linocuts begin as collage. I manipulate found images, drawings, colour and pattern until a narrative emerges. Whilst printmaking is a considered process, I aim to maintain the spontaneous feel of the original collage. Social insecurities, environmental concerns and the abuse of economic and political power are reoccurring themes within my work.
